Accident Claims OnlineInsurer Royal and Sun Alliance (R+SA) introduced a new claims process that is intended to streamline the practice of claiming on insurance for bodily injuries for people who have had accidents in cars or in the workplace.
Mostly the process is geared towards speed and efficiency, but it is also targeted towards helping the victim as quickly as possible.
The overall goal is to make the process cheaper and quicker.
The new process will make recovery processes quicker and help victims as well as reducing insurance premiums in the long run according to company officials. A Testing phase is scheduled and after that phase a larger-scale implementation is planned.
The average personal injury claim takes three years to settle and almost 40p in every £1 of compensation paid goes for various expenses, such as legal costs and accounts for almost £2 billion in costs per year.
The new process is comprised of three steps to make claiming insurance payments quicker and more efficient. One, the company intends to respond quickly to any bodily injury claims, begin rehabilitation immediately and consequently agree on appropriate compensation.
A major factor of this is securing the proper treatment and doing so quickly so as to limit the victim's recovery time.
"By getting involved in claims early and delivering a package of care services to accident victims, R+SA Care aims to accelerate the injured person's recovery and reduce the overall costs of the claim," said Steve Maddock, technical claims director at R+SA.
Upon the initiation of treatment, all of the other normal processes will commence, but each will be conducted with the health of the victim in mind and with a goal of completing both the recovery process and the claims process as quickly and effectively as possible.
Another group of qualities of the new process will help three involved parties: The injured party, the employer and the insurer.
"It will assist injured parties' recovery, help businesses reduce the length of time employees are absent for as they recuperate and make the process of issuing claims to customers quicker and cheaper for insurers," R+SA claims.
The scheme will initially run for eight months, during which time the company expects to handle around 5,000 bodily injury claims. Upon completion of the testing phase, the program will be evaluated, modified where necessary and eventually, the company hopes, implemented in all of its claims processes.
